Habib Khan and Parisa Vaaleh Unite Indian and Persian Traditions at the Orinda

Sitarist Habib Khan and Persian vocalist Parisa Vaaleh will perform at The Orinda Theatre on Friday, September 18, as part of a new concert and recording series from X DOT 25 Music.

The program brings Indian classical music, Persian poetry, jazz, and other musical traditions into a collaborative setting. Khan, whose work is rooted in Indian raga, will share the stage with Vaaleh, who will interpret poetry by Rumi and other Persian spiritual writers.

In addition, the ensemble features four Bay Area musicians. Amir Etemadzadeh will perform on tombak and daf, while Michael Nejad will play ney, daf, santoor and piano. Matthew Montfort will appear on guitar, and Satish Tare will perform on tabla.

The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Orinda Theatre. It forms part of X DOT 25 Music’s concert and recording series at the venue.
