Over 111 Events Scheduled for First Ever European Folk Day

The inaugural European Folk Day will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The event celebrates the rich and diverse folk and world music scene in Europe.

So far, around 111 folk music events in 22 countries are scheduled. Various festivals have aligned themselves with European Folk Day, including the Festival Popolare Italiano and the Malmesbury Folk & Roots. Furthermore, there will be premieres as well as radio specials at Od zlata jabuka (Golden Apple) on Radio Belgrade 2; Mundofonías in Spain and RadioFolk.dk.

The partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Music Unit has pulled together radio stations across Europe that will use their strength as public service media broadcasters to disseminate information about this day.

Notably, Scottish Folk Day will also take place this year for the first time, with a festival featuring 6 artists, to be held at the University of Aberdeen.
