Piping Live! Big Band Returns with New Route for 2023

The Piping Live! Big Band is set to make a comeback at this year’s festival, offering an opportunity for pipers of all ages and skill levels to participate. Around 150 pipers will gather, ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals. This year, the Big Band will follow a new route in Glasgow’s West End, starting at Mansfield Park in Partick and concluding at the concourse outside Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Anyone who plays a practice chanter, bagpipes, snare, bass or tenor drum, or is a drum major can join the Big Band. The event aims to bring together pipers who are not involved in the main festival, allowing them to be part of the prestigious Piping Live! lineup. The festival itself will take place from August 12th to August 20th, attracting over 30,000 attendees. Live-streaming will also be available for those unable to attend in person.
