Serving as a grand finale, this work marks the culmination of Aaron Davis and the Coal Biters’ artistic endeavor. In 2013, fate conspired to unite Aaron with the rhythmic virtuoso, percussionist, and vocalist Ryan Gentry. A year later, the seasoned multi-instrumentalist George Holcomb joined their ranks, completing the trio. In 2015, Aaron Smith and the Coal Biters graced the world with their debut offering, The Way the World Turns. However, the tragic loss of Holcomb at the age of 76 spelled the end of this remarkable musical trinity.

Guided by his passion, he lent his musical skill to the North Arkansas Symphony. Yet, the allure of rock beckoned him, leading him on a trip to Florida, where he reveled in vibrant melodies, wielding his trusty pink paisley Stratocaster. Alas, the intoxicating allure of the industry proved disillusioning, and Aaron found solace in a temporary sabbatical from the world of music, yearning for a respite from the tempestuous storm.
Upon his homecoming, the indomitable spirit of Ozark culture rekindled Aaron Smith’s creative flame. A transformative encounter with the enchanting melodies of Kelly and Donna Mulhollan from Still on a Hill, at an intimate house concert, electrified his soul with the profound connection fostered by the indomitable spirit of folk music. A newfound desire surged within him, an insatiable longing to create music, to channel the Mulhollans’ timeless enchantment into his very being. In those moments, Aaron became a conduit for untold stories.
Fate unveiled yet another pivotal figure in Aaron’s melodic odyssey, veteran troubadour Jack Williams. This serendipitous union altered the course of Aaron’s musical trajectory, opening the gates to a world of acceptance within the revered realms of folk music. Encircled by kindred spirits and guided by the nurturing touch of the sagacious Steve Gillette, Smith’s artistic pursuits surged to new heights.
