Artist Profiles: Sister Sadie

Acclaimed bluegrass band Sister Sadie was formed in 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. The all-female
members range from acclaimed veterans to rising newcomers, who have won individual recognition, too.

The band released two albums for Pinecastle Records, Sister Sadie and Sister Sadiee II. The second release earned them a GRAMMY nomination for Best Bluegrass Album in 2019.

Founding member and fiddle player Deanie Richardson was named as Fiddle Player of the Year in 2020 and banjo player and vocalist Gena Brittwas awarded Banjo Player of the Year by Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.

Sister Sadie took home the International Bluegrass Music Association’s top Entertainer of the Year award in 2020; Vocal Group of the Year trophies in 2019, 2020 and 2021; along with various other honors.

The lineup in 2022 included 2021 IBMA Momentum Vocalist of the Year guitarist Jaelee Roberts on guitar and vocals; Mary Meyer on mandolin and vocals; founding member Gena Britt on banjo and vocals; Deanie Richardson on fiddle; and Hasee Ciacco (Molly Tuttle, Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands) on bass.

In September 2022, the band released “Diane,” their first single for Mountain Home Music Company.
