Tiken Jah Fakoly Winner of the Prix Nuits d’Afrique pour la Francophonie 2022 Award

Canada’s Festival International Nuits d’Afrique will pay tribute to the ambassador of African reggae Tiken Jah Fakoly by awarding him the Prix Nuits d’Afrique pour la Francophonie, during a formal ceremony that will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Montreal City Hall.

This award celebrates the immense talent and unprecedented influence of Tiken Jah Fakoly, standard-bearer of African youth who thirst for freedom and change. After 25 years of career, this hero of modern reggae has become the speaker of an entire continent.

Originally from the Ivory Coast, Tiken Jah Fakoly’s reggae music became highly popular in his native country and beyond.

Back on stage in Montreal after 2 years of absence, he will be the headliner of the official opening concert of the 36th edition of the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, on July 13, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. at the MTelus in Montreal.

Created in 2016, during the 30th anniversary of the festival, the Prix Nuits D’Afrique pour la Francophonie is awarded to an artist of international renown who embodies a unifying vision of the diversity of cultural expressions in the international Francophone area.
