Mammoth 50 Disc Boxed Set Presents the Work of British Folk-Rock Star Al Stewart

“The Admiralty Lights” (Madfish) is a new 50 CD boxed set highlighting the career of British folk-rock singer-songwriter Al Stewart.

Al Stewart’s sixty-year career in music has made him one of the most successful folk-rock artists the British Isles have ever produced. “The Admiralty Lights” follows Glasgow born Stewart, a musician deeply influenced by as musical genre known as skiffle, a type of folk music with a blues or jazz flavor that was popular in the 1950s, played by a small group and often featuring improvised instruments such as washboards.

Stewart is best known for his 1976 hit single “Year of the Cat”, included in the platinum album of the same name. Though Year of the Cat. Stewart’s 1978 album “Time Passages” also reached platinum.

The 50 discs present Stewart from his humble beginnings in 1964, to global stardom in the 1970s, through to his most recent recordings in 2009.

The collection includes Stewart’s complete original set of 21 studio albums that have been remastered from the original tape transfers, housed in original sleeves and lovingly presented in deluxe LP style jackets. Also included are 18 discs featuring never-before-heard live concert recordings from 1970 to 2009, 3 discs of rare BBC Sessions from 1965 to 1972 and 8 discs of Demos, Outtakes and Rarities, offering a rare inside look into Al Stewart’s world.
