A Beautiful Journey Further Downstream from the Roots

Teyr – Estren (Sleight of Hand Records, 2021)

Innovative acoustic roots music band Teyr has a new album titled Estren. The trio plays a fabulous, masterfully crafted mix of traditional music, contemporary Celtic music and skilled improvisation. It is colorful, multi-layered and highly pleasurable, with engaging songs and captivating instrumental interplay.

Estren is a continuation of Far from the Tree; “our journey further downstream from the roots and traditions from which we came. Our music here honors the importance of movement in our lives: the movement within spaces, between spaces, and the unsuppressed movement within our own hearts and minds.”

The lineup includes Dominic Henderson on uilleann pipes, low whistle, vocals, percussion; Tommie Black-Roff on accordion, voice, piano, Wurlitzer, harmonium; and James Patrick Gavin on acoustic and electric guitars, violin, viola, vocals.

Guest Artists: Nina Harries double bass; Holly Harman on violin; Abel Selaocoe on cello, vocals; Hilary Coleman on clarinet, bass clarinet, backing vocals; Alastair Caplin on violin; Tad Sargent on bodhrán; Flora Curzon on violin; Ruth Corey on vocals, synthesizer; Sid Goldsmith on vocals, concertina; Amy-Jane Fisher on viola; and producer Ian Stephenson on bass, electric guitar, and percussion.
