Artist Profiles: Jeff Brown

Bluegrass vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Brown started playing music at an early age. He and his brother formed the Richlands Bluegrass Boys, where he played along with Blue Highway’s Wayne Taylor.

In 1993, Jeff went to work for Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers as bass player and tenor vocalist. He has performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (Tennessee) and the television shows Austin City Limits in Austin (Texas) and Song of the Mountains on PBS. Jeff also toured with The Charlie Sizemore Band, and played various concerts with Blue Highway, Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, and Jesse McReynolds.

In addition to touring, Jeff hosts his own (recorded) radio show on Saturday mornings with WXLZ 107.3 FM near his home in Lebanon, Virginia as well as co-hosts the Bluegrass Standard Magazine Radio Show.

Jeff’s band, Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome had the following lineup in 2021: Jeff Brown on guitar and vocals; Austin Brown on bass; Nick Goad on mandolin and tenor vocals; and Rod Smith on banjo, dobro and vocals.
