On the Path to St. Patrick: Lúnasa

Lúnasa has been one of the finest contemporary Irish folk music bands for many years. The group features top instrumentalists and vocalists. Lúnasa put together something very special on its 10th album, Cas (Lúnasa Records, 2018). They invited some of their favorite singers, artists with whom they had collaborated with in the past. Many are Americans, representing folk, bluegrass and blues traditions: Natalie Merchant, Tim O’Brien, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Eric Bibb. Lúnasa also invited Irish singer Daoirí Farrell.

The Lúnasa lineup on this superb album included Kevin Crawford on flute and whistles; Cillian Vallely on uilleann pipes and low whistle; Séan Smyth on fiddle; Colin Farrell on fiddle and low whistles; Trevor Hutchinson on double bass, bouzouki, and lap steel guitar; Ed Boyd on guitar; and Patrick Doocey, on additional guitars.
