Led by Artistic Director Keith Terry, the concert is a sizzling smorgasbord of contemporary and traditional Body Music featuring all California artists—an irresistible hand-clapping, foot-stomping, chest-whomping extravaganza.
Artists include Los Cenzontles, Cerro Negro, Danny “Slapjazz” Barber, James Harding, Linda Akiyama, Elizabeth Strong with Dan Cantrell and Evan Fraser, Keith Terry and Evie Ladin, Khalid Freeman, and Sofia Lopez-Ibor.
The day of workshops will include culture-specific styles, teacher trainings for both music and classroom teachers, a free family workshop, and more. In addition, Crosspulse will donate in-school IBMF assembly programs to two Oakland Public Elementary Schools on Friday, December 3rd.
Keith Terry enthusiastically states, “Although we are extremely excited to be taking our annual festival internationally and will continue to do so, we also wanted to pay tribute to our fellow California body musicians and performers, while celebrating and giving back to the Bay Area, where the festival was founded and continues to grow.”
The International Body Music Festival performers have recently returned from a stellar Lincoln Center NY show and are gearing up to host their annual six-day festival for the first time in São Paulo, Brazil in Mid-November.
Workshops:
The all-new teacher training workshops aims to support academic learning through music. The workshops will help teachers learn an engaging music approach for teaching math and language arts, while discovering how to incorporate Body music into academic and creative curriculum, and to create instructional activities to motive and inspire students.
