(Prensa Latina) Havana, Cuba – As a special moment in Cuban culture, the 6th National Septet Gathering “Ignacio Piñeiro” takes place on May 12-14 in several of Havana’s theaters. Musical groups from the whole country will perform at “Echale Salsita” patio, Havana’s Amphitheater, the Music and Friendship Houses and the America Theater these days.
The meeting will be dedicated to honor Cienfuegos septet Los Narajos’ 75th founding anniversary and Santiago de Cuba’s “Estudiantina Invasora”. About this issue, popular “tres” player Pancho Amat stated that the event has two essential objectives: a) to maintain the memory of a rhythm -the “son”- and b) to give life to the fantasy of “son” music.
Compay Segundo, Pancho Amat y su grupo, Jóvenes Clásicos del Son, Coto y su Eco Caribe, Barbarito Torres y su piquete, Matamoros, Hermanos Bravo, Cana Santa, Charanga Gold Star, Jomaly and Hilda Gorria y su Acento Cubano are included among the groups.
