The Rough Guide to World Music

The Rough Guide to World Music is a 700-page book on just about every strand of global popular music. The guide consists of thirteen chapters, arranged according to regions that make broad musical sense. Each chapter then breaks down into a series of features on specific countries or genres of music.

At the end of each of these sections, you’ll find a selective discography: not an exhaustive listing, by any means, but one that covers most of the top recordings and the writer’s personal choices.
