USA – Indian guitarist Prasanna has completed several recording
projects recently: “I had a really hectic but wonderful month-long trip to India. While I
was there, I recorded and mixed down two albums. One a traditional
Carnatic CD titled ‘Ra Rama‘ for the Indian label Kosmic Music and of
course ‘the other album’. ‘The other album’ is titled ‘Electric Ganesha
Land‘ and is my tribute to Jimi Hendrix, ‘Chennai style’. A hard rocking
album with only Carnatic percussion instruments like thavil, mridangam,
ghatam, kanjira and morsing.”‘Electric Ganesha Land‘ will be the first CD production to come out of
ace Indian film composer A.R. Rahman’s just inaugurated AM studios which
houses the stunning Neve 88R console (for those geeks out there, the 88R
is Neve’s latest and most high end analog console and has quickly found
a home in the top most studios in the world).
Prasanna was disturbed
by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. “As a musician, New
Orleans always has a close place in my heart and I can’t believe that
its been reduced to this. I encourage you all to donate to your favorite
charity to help victims in need.” He recently performed a ‘Hurricane
Katrina relief’ concert on Oct 2nd in Huntsville, Alabama with Bill
Urmson on bass and Jordan Perlson on drums.
