Global music travelers Compass Rose Sextet present their latest offering of instrumental pieces inspired by various musical traditions. Carnivalesque crosses numerous international boundaries, incorporating the sounds and rhythms of Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Africa. The group mixes these international influences with American swing and blues.

The original band has grown to a sextet, enhancing its sound with an additional violinist. The current lineup of the group includes Gary Cleland on bass Atiba Jali on percussion, Larry Howe on mandolin, Andy Stees on violin, Tom Bowing on violin, and Doug Marier on guitar.

Carnivalesque showcases well-crafted instrumental music with an accessible world music flavor.
