Bosko Baker – The Magnolia Sessions (Anti-Corp Music, 2026)
Bosko Baker recorded The Magnolia Sessions, a live performance filmed outdoors at the Anti-Corp/Black Matter Mastering headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. The Magnolia Sessions is a series that focuses on bluegrass, dark country, and American folk singer-songwriters. It is recorded in an intimate setting net to a large magnolia tree by studio owner Dan Emery.
Baker is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter deeply inspired by country blues, ragtime, folk, and swing. He has described his style as “street swing” or “bozo blues.” His influences include Doc Watson, Merle Travis, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Blake, Jimmie Rodgers, and Mississippi John Hurt.
In performance, Baker is known for an improvisational approach developed through years of busking. As a result, his sets often focus on raw finger picked guitar, traditional song forms, and detailed songs. He has appeared in both festival and small-venue settings, where that mix has helped build a steady following.
Baker shared his thoughts about his installment of The Magnolia Sessions, “Playing underneath the ole magnolia tree with two of my best pals Birdie and Ely, oh, what a time. Arriving fresh off a gig, with little sleep from our tour, and a pocket full of folk tunes, we ripped through a few of our favorite numbers while listening to the chirping of crickets and feeling the soft breeze of an autumn in Nashville.”
Dan Emery said: “Bosko dwells in chaos, and I love that about him. When he came to do his session, he was fresh off the campgrounds from playing a festival. He drove in to Nashville and had a show lined up the same night as his session. Most artists would draw absolute ire from me for doing this, but I trusted his methods. Good call on my part. He showed up at 10pm immediately after playing said show with Birdie Veilleux and Ely Rickard in tow. My wife came out in her pajamas and did the photoshoot for the promo pics, we did a quick soundcheck, and off they went! They absolutely delivered! Sessions like this one are in my opinion the true essence of what this project represents. These songs are a moment in time that we can all share over and over again. Something important happened during that moment in human history”.
