The 26th annual Old Settler’s Music Festival will take place Thursday-Sunday, April 18-21, 2013 at Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch, FM 1826 south of Austin, Texas.
Organizers announced the partial lineup that includes the festival debuts of string band the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Americana singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle, and the return of festival favorites the Del McCoury Band, Leftover Salmon and Fred Eaglesmith.
Dobro master Jerry Douglas reappears after a 15-year absence; local artists the Gourds and Terri Hendrix are also coming back. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
More than 30 renowned roots, bluegrass and Americana artists will grace the festival’s four stages; others confirmed so far are Peter Rowan, Elephant Revival, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Casey Driessen Singularity, Green Mountain Grass and 2012 Youth Competition winner Kimberly Zielnicki.
Old Settler’s Music Festival offers bluegrass, roots and Americana acts performing on four stages over four days, along with camping in the scenic Texas hill country. Many music fans return annually for well attended shows by award-winning artists such as Iron & Wine, Buddy Miller, Bruce Hornsby, Amos Lee, Yonder Mountain String Band, Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Bela Fleck and popular locals such as Bob Schneider, Patty Griffin and Sarah Jarosz, who played a triumphant headlining set in 2012, 10 years after winning the inaugural Youth Competition.
Early-bird passes provide a savings of up to 24 percent over custom wristbands for events bought at the gate. Only a limited number will be sold at this price. Buying early assures access to camping at the popular Ben McCulloch grounds, site of a fourth stage and many special late-night jam sessions. Camping passes have sold out completely in the past two years.
Packages available for early-bird purchase are: four-day with camping; three-day with camping; three-day without camping; and all-inclusive platinum passes. Children 12 and under accompanied by a paid adult are admitted free.
