Eyes over the world (EOW music, 2010)
Malian percussion master and edgy Italian folk rock band Il Pozzo di San Patrizio team up on the album eyes over the world. The result is a fascinating mix of Italian folk-rock music, Malian beats and reggae.
Il Pozzo di San Patrizio is a renowned band from Salerno (Campania, Italy). Il Pozzo di San Patrizio was started in winter 1998 in Salerno. The current sound of the band is characterized by a fusion of acoustic instruments, analog effects, and some electronics.
The first cd, titled “Il Pozzo di San Patrizio, was released in 2001. Two years later, the band released the second cd “Altri Tempi” and, in the summer of 2006, the third album came out. Lucidamente was released by Milan-based Ethnoworld.
In May of 2008 Il Pozzo di San Patrizio released Hard Folk Cafè (UPR/EDEL), which contains some of the most loved hits of the band and an homage to Vasco Rossi, with the song Cosa Succede in Città, sung with Lino Vairetti, the vocalist of Osanna, a historical Italian Progressive rock band.

Baba Sissoko was born March 8th, 1963, in Bamako, Mali. He is a reputable multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. He is a master of the talking drum (tama). He also plays ngoni, kamalengoni, bala, and calabass.
From childhood, he played tamani, often accompanying the traditional female jelis during wedding and other traditional ceremonies.
In 1985, he toured internationally with the prestigious Instrumental Ensemble of Mali orchestra, playing the tamani and ngoni. In 1991, he founded his trio, Baba Sissoko & Taman Kan, and began extensively collaborating with top Malian artists and international musicians. His work with Habib Koité is notable as their collaboration lasted 12 years and was widely celebrated. In 1995, Baba Sissoko released his first album with Tama-Kan.

I got it online as mp3, I would love to buy the CD as well: any news about distributors in USA?
I had a “bootleg” version of the CD from a friend. The first four songs are stunning and should be listened at many times…everybody should “bibisa” at least a couple of times every month! I don’t gather the “campanian” label: this is a truly afro-european experience. My congratulations to those involved in the project.
