The World Music Institute (WMI) has announced its Fall-Winter 2026–27 season, following the organization’s 40th anniversary celebration as a leading New York City presenter of world music and dance.
The new season features several New York City debuts, including Japan’s Minyo Crusaders, Mexico’s Laura Itandehui, South Korea’s Leenalchi, Spanish duo Caamaño&Ameixeiras, and Jiwa Kala, a project led by Indonesia’s Peni Candra Rini with Shahzad Ismaily and Andy McGraw.
In addition, the lineup welcomes the return of internationally acclaimed artists such as DakhaBrakha, Niladri Kumaar, and Angélique Kidjo.
WMI will also introduce NEXT GEN, a new series dedicated to artists advancing the future of world music. The initiative highlights performers who draw from longstanding cultural traditions while presenting contemporary interpretations for new audiences.
According to WMI, the season reflects its ongoing commitment to presenting both established artists and emerging voices from around the world.
