The album Toumaro by Hawa & Kasse Mady Diabaté dominates the World Music Charts Europe for the month of September 2025.
Kassé Mady Diabaté, celebrated Malian jali known as “the golden voice of Mali,” recorded six albums between 1989 and 2014, with titles such as Fodé, Manden Djeli Kan, and Kiriké. After his death in 2018, his daughter, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, completed the posthumous album Toumaro (À Bientôt), whose title track she wrote.
Toumaro features Hawa Kassé Mady, Madou Kouyate, and members of Kassé Mady’s band: Lassana Diabaté (balafon), Lassine Kouyate and Gausou Kouyate (acoustic guitar), and Mamadou Koné (jembe and calabash).
