The third annual European Folk Day will take place on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, with related events welcomed in the days immediately before and after. The initiative showcases the scale of participation in Europe’s traditional performing arts, music, dance, and storytelling, across communities and countries.
Everyone is eligible to take part, regardless of affiliation with the European Folk Network (EFN). Individuals, bands, radio stations, festivals, clubs, conservatoires, institutions, companies, community groups, workshops, and local organizations may participate on-site or online. Registration is available via the Participate page of the European Folk Day website.
Participation can be modest or extensive. A single concert, a multi-artist festival, or a short video of a new or traditional song shared on social media with the hashtag #europeanfolkday all qualify. Journalists, broadcasters, and bloggers may feature artists or dedicate programs to Folk Day themes. Promotion through local, national, and social media is encouraged, and there is no set limit on format, timing, or location, provided it aligns with the event window around 23 September.
