The 2026 edition of the Festival Internacional do Mundo Celta de Ortigueira will take place from Thursday, July 9, to Sunday, July 12, 2026. After expanding to five days in 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Escola de Gaitas de Ortigueira, the festival returns to its traditional four-day format.
Organized by the Concello de Ortigueira, the event reaffirms its status as a key gathering for international folk and Celtic music. The lineup will feature both established artists and emerging voices, with the Concurso Runas competition once again spotlighting up-and-coming acts. Madrid-based group Xara, winner of the 2025 edition, will perform alongside seasoned artists on the main stage.
Now approaching its fifth decade, the festival continues to evolve while maintaining its core mission: to foster artistic excellence, cultural diversity, and connections among Celtic nations and regions through music. The organizing team has already begun preparing the 2026 cultural and musical program.
Further announcements regarding artists, activities, and full programming will follow in the coming weeks.
