The cover for Sosegá – El Palo Sin Prisa features a precarious stack of green wooden chairs balanced in an industrial-style room. The hand-drawn, cloud-like title floats above, while simple white text below credits musical directors Javier Limón and Frank Maza.

A Toast to Time: Flamenco Finds a New Palo with Sosegá

To mark the centennial of Cervezas Alhambra, a group of flamenco’s most revered voices has come together for a groundbreaking collaboration. The result is Sosegá, a newly created flamenco palo (subgenre) that honors tradition while challenging its conventions.

Guided by acclaimed composer and producer Javier Limón, the project brings together artists from across the flamenco spectrum: Carmen Linares, Arcángel, Kiki Morente, Sandra Carrasco, Antonio Cortés, Juan Carmona, Saúl Quirós, David de Jacoba, and Gema and Samara Carrasco. They are joined by guitarists Diego del Morao and Dani de Morón, dancer José Maya, and percussionist Ane Carrasco. This historic ensemble combines generations of experience in a shared artistic vision.

Unlike traditional palos, Sosegá omits a fixed rhythmic close, allowing the music to unfold with fluidity and space. This structural openness mirrors the philosophy of the city of Granada and local brewer Cervezas Alhambra, a culture that embraces patience, presence, and savoring each moment without rushing toward an end.
