Leading the program are Vicente Amigo, José del Tomate, José María Gallardo & Miguel A. Cortés, Antonia Jiménez, Yerai Cortés, and Gerardo Núñez. Núñez will be joined by fellow guitarists Canito, Álvaro Martinete, Ricardo Moreno, Jerónimo Maya, and José Quevedo “Bolita” for his performance in Guitarra Desnuda.

A special highlight of the event is Pepe Habichuela, a member of one of flamenco’s most iconic guitar dynasties. He will premiere Yesqueros at the Teatros del Canal, a piece named after the Granada square where the Habichuela family originated. The performance will evoke the deep emotion and rhythms of his early years, spent with his siblings in a cave.

The festival will also present La Poeta, an artistic collaboration between guitarist Lagos and dancer Belén Maya. The work is inspired by the turbulent life and literary brilliance of Argentine poet Alfonsina Storni. Together, Lagos and Maya will fuse music and dance to tell a story of struggle, creativity, and beauty.

Ana Crismán

Other notable instrumentalists include harpist Ana Crismán, performing with Jesús Méndez, and the Jorge Pardo Trio, featuring flute and saxophone. Pardo’s concert, Adelante y Por Derecho, will explore how these instruments have expanded the sonic range of flamenco, premiering at Teatros del Canal.

Finally, JuanFe Pérez (bass) and Agustín Diassera (percussion), along with guest artists Sandra Carrasco and Dani de Morón, will present Semilla. This innovative show, exclusive to Suma Flamenca, delves into the complexity of flamenco’s various forms, emphasizing timbre, rhythm, and collective improvisation as its distinctive features.
