Desert Blues, Electric Grooves: Vieux Farka Touré Returns to Brooklyn

On Friday, April 25, 2025, renowned Malian guitar virtuoso and vocalist Vieux Farka Touré is set to bring his signature mix of desert blues and rock-infused rhythms back to Brooklyn Bowl. The son of legendary musician Ali Farka Touré, Vieux has forged his own path while honoring his father’s musical legacy, seamlessly blending traditional West African sounds with modern influences.

Initially trained as a drummer, Vieux transitioned to guitar under his father’s guidance, recording with him before Ali’s passing in 2006. His acclaimed discography includes The Secret, featuring a collaboration with Dave Matthews, as well as Les Racines, a return to his Malian roots. His latest project, Ali, created with indie rock trio Khruangbin, reinterprets his father’s iconic songs for a new generation.

Presented by the World Music Institute in partnership with Brooklyn Bowl, this concert is part of the Let’s Dance Series, celebrating artists whose music moves both hearts and feet. An opening act will be announced soon.
