On Friday, May 30, 2025, legendary sarod virtuoso Amjad Ali Khan will take the stage at NYU Skirball Center, joined by his sons, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, for Sarod Trilogy, a concert celebrating six generations of unparalleled musical tradition.
A true master of Indian classical music, Amjad Ali Khan has spent over six decades refining and evolving the sarod, an instrument shaped by his family’s lineage. Trained by his father, the revered Haafiz Ali Khan, he gave his first recital at the age of six and has since been recognized as one of the most influential sarod players of the modern era. His sons, Amaan and Ayaan, continue this artistic legacy, combining tradition with contemporary sensibilities to bring the sarod’s expressive depth to new audiences.
Presented by the World Music Institute, this performance is part of the Masters of Indian Music Series, which honors the virtuosos who have shaped and sustained India’s classical music heritage.
