Fabio Bergamini holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music from Unicamp (Campinas/SP) and furthered his studies in the United States (Berklee College of Music and CalArts). He also specialized in ethnomusicology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal, where he spent two years as a member of the group Madredeus.
He has worked as a university professor at Souza Lima, Instituto Vera Cruz, Unimep, Unisant’Anna, and IBFE. Additionally, he has contributed to schools and social projects such as Bate Lata, Projeto Guri, EMT, Colégio Notre Dame, and the Escola de Música de Cascais in Portugal. For two years, he collaborated on the “Brincadeiras Musicais” project by Palavra Cantada.
Bergamini is the author of drum instructional books for Projeto Guri. As a guest musician, he has performed with the Campinas Symphony Orchestra (OSMC), the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra (OSU), and Orquestra Rock, playing alongside artists such as Ivan Lins, Frejat, Zeca Baleiro, Skank, Banda Blitz, Melim, and Jota Quest. He has also performed with renowned artists like Flávia Bittencourt, Luiz Melodia, Elba Ramalho, Geraldo Azevedo, Alceu Valença, Nando Cordel, Ivan Lins, Sofia Vitória, and instrumental groups such as Magnífica Orquestra Paulistana de Músicas do Mundo, Mondjaz, Choro Pro Santo, Banda Urbana, Comboio, Michel Freidenson Trio, Albano Sales, Marcelo Onofri, Rubinho Antunes, and others.
In 2016, Bergamini was invited to teach at the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in Chennai, India. Currently, he is a professor at St. Nicholas School, Instituto Vera Cruz, IBFE, and the postgraduate program in Popular Music at Faculdade Souza Lima. He also develops his own work as a composer and instrumentalist and works as a sound therapist at Escola dos 7 Portões, where he is also a curator for cultural and artistic events.
Bergamini is the organizer and conductor of the Orquestra Viramundo in Carapicuíba, a social project for children in shelters supported by ProAC Editais 2021. In 2022, he released his first solo album, Nandri.
In 2024, Fabio Bergamini released 7 Portais, which represents his lifelong pursuit of cultural and musical exploration. As Fabio puts it: “This project reflects my constant search for the cultural and musical essence of all peoples, who together form one humanity.” The album embodies the diversity and beauty of global percussion traditions, using both traditional instruments and cutting-edge technology to create deep, atmospheric soundscapes.
