Blind Boys of Alabama and Blues Artist Bobby Rush collaborate on “99 ½ Won’t Do”

For the first time, gospel icons Blind Boys of Alabama and Blues Hall of Famer Bobby Rush have collaborated on a recording released today. This collaboration features the sacred soul classic “99 ½ Won’t Do” and aims to support the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis, TN. Both artists have had legendary careers spanning six decades and recently won Grammy Awards in 2024. Joining them on the recording are Dom Flemons and the folk-rock band Dustbowl Revival.

“99 ½ Won’t Do” is a traditional song previously recorded by artists such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mavis Staples with Ry Cooder, Steve Cropper, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Hezekiah Walker, Wilson Pickett, and Eddie Floyd.
