Renowned for their mastery in crafting innovative instrumental compositions deeply rooted in Flemish traditional music, siblings Hartwin and Ward Dhoore’s career spans over two decades. Their latest work is the album Rodeland.
The duo embarked on a reflective venture back to their origins in 2021, marking a significant milestone in their prolific careers. Hartwin Dhoore and Ward Dhoore have contributed to various bands and projects, decided it was opportune to pay homage to the Flemish region of Belgium they affectionately call “home.”
The album serves as a poignant tribute to the rich cultural history of their native land, with delightful acoustic fragments and creative ideas seamlessly interwoven. Originating from spontaneous sessions around the familial kitchen table, exploratory walks in childhood locales, and a rediscovery of local gastronomy that resonates with the soul, the music on this record reflects the brothers’ profound connection with their roots.
Known for their instrumental skill and innovative compositions, the Dhoore brothers have been the driving force behind acclaimed musical endeavors such as Trio Dhoore, Estbel, and The Flemish Folk Caravan. Their musical odyssey, spanning international stages for over 15 years, has solidified their position as a well-regarded duo named Siger.
The duo has performed at renowned festivals and stages across Europe, the UK, and North America, including Celtic Connections (Scotland), Underneath the Stars (England), Folk Alliance International (USA), Rudolstadt Festival (Germany), and many more. Indeed, the brothers have cultivated a broad and devoted fan base. Their band name Siger pays homage to Siger den Rode, the ruler of Rodeland, who was deposed by Emperor Charles V’s loyalists, whose legacy echoes through their musical narrative.
