La Prenda Roja – La Prenda Roja (Segell Microscopi, 2023)
La Prenda Roja (red garment) includes three talented Spanish artists, Cristina López, Sara Sambola, and Ana Brenes. Their self-titled debut album pays homage to feminine identity and expression, skillfully combining traditional flamenco and edgy electronic music beats.
The album is more than a collection of beautifully crafted songs; it’s a representation of the group’s collective identity. As Ana Brenes articulates, “It’s a platform to showcase our unique sound.” La Prenda Roja is the harmonious fusion of three distinctive personalities, each on a journey that converges around a common theme: the exploration of life’s most vital, societal, and introspective themes, all conveyed through the symbolism of the color red. Brenes further emphasizes, “This work is the culmination of who we are and the paths that have led us here.”
Cristina López (Tarragona, 1981) is a versatile artist. Indeed, she is a singer, composer, music producer, and dedicated researcher. Sara Sambola (Barcelona, 1988) is a singer, composer, and music producer. For instance, Sara has embraced an array of musical styles throughout her career, spanning flamenco, jazz, world music, urban music, and electronic sounds. Her vocal talent has graced numerous events and festivals, from La Mercè to Premis Cambra, and she has contributed her voice to award-winning documentaries. Sara is also the current vocalist of the group Kejaleo. As a solo artist, she explored the electronic music realm with “Dopamine,” released as an album in 2020. She further delved into Mediterranean and world music with the project “A mí me llaman” in 2021, highlighting her versatility and creative spirit.
