Flamenco Singer Argentina to represent Spain in Havana within the Spanish Cultural Week of Cuba 2023

Vocalist Argentina María López Tristancho, known artistically as Argentina (Huelva, 1984), one of the most powerful voices in current flamenco, is set to return to Cuba. She returns to the Caribbean island after the great success of her first visit in 2019, which went viral worldwide with an improvised video singing Idilio. Argentina recently performed successful shows this summer, such as last week at the Villa de Colmenar Viejo Auditorium (Madrid) and in the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca just a week ago.

Argentina will arrive in Cuba with her show Idilio en La Habana de Flamenco y Son Cubano. She will be accompanied by flamenco guitarist of Rubén Lara and the choirs, palmas (clapping) and jaleos by Cristina Tovar and Dani Bonilla. In addition, Argentina will appear on these two concerts with a band of nine Cuban musicians, musically directed by Havana pianist Lázaro Peña. These include Enid Rosales (tres cubano), Julio César Ochoa (electric bass and double bass), Armando Osuna (percussion), brass section with Devan (trumpet), Alejandro Calzadilla (sax) and Diansy Jesús López (trombone). Argentina will also feature two singers who will also play instruments that are very defining of the son cubano such as the clave, maracas, and guiro: Indira Sánchez and Renier Roberto Leiva. Argentina will perform a repertoire of traditional flamenco and Cuban sounds, where flamenco musicians will interact with musicians from Havana.

The Cultural Week of Spain in Cuba has the support of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba and other local institutions such as: the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the Cuban Cinematheque, the Office of the Historian of Havana, the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Culinary Federation and the Association of Bartenders of Cuba, the Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana and the Federation of Spanish Societies in Cuba.
