Presentation of Flamenco Day 2023

Cádiz Provincial Council Supports Celebration of Flamenco Day Organized by the Federation of Peñas

The Provincial Council of Cádiz and the Provincial Federation of Flamenco Clubs join forces again to celebrate the V Day of Flamenco in the province of Cádiz. The deputy for Culture, Vanesa Beltrán, and the president of the Federation, Nicolás Sosa, have been in charge of presenting the details of this event that will take place on September 22 and 23.

The representative and vice president of the Provincial Culture Foundation, Vanesa Beltrán, has pointed out that this initiative is an example of the “commitment of the Provincial Council to culture, art and, specifically, to flamenco.” Beltrán explained that support for Flamenco Day in the province is “a determined commitment to continue promoting flamenco in all its manifestations as an essential element of our cultural heritage and as a hallmark of all municipalities.” Furthermore, the deputy has highlighted the tourist and economic contribution that this type of activity represents for the entire provincial territory.

The representative has guaranteed to the representatives of the Federation of Peñas the continuity of the support of the Provincial Council for the different initiatives it develops, with actions that will be reissued such as the Aula del Flamenco, the children’s play ‘The colors of flamenco’, the Culture program Flamenco and Sherry; the project ‘Al compás por la memoria’; the Provincial Meeting of the Federation of Flamenco Peñas; or actions around the zambombas celebrations at Christmas.

This program is not only about promoting flamenco art, but also about supporting singers and guitarists and promoting clubs as spaces of culture and coexistence. In that sense, the president of the Federation, Nicolás Sosa, has been convinced that “everything that happens in a club is something unique, flamenco is lived as an experience around gatherings and coexistence, and that is which allows the conservation of this art in an intimate environment between the public and artists.”

Sosa also referred to the potential of flamenco as a factor in attracting visitors, which is why this initiative is once again scheduled within the framework of the celebration of International Tourism Day.

One of the singers who will star in one of the scheduled recitals, in this case in Jerez, Pedro Montoya ‘Chanquita’, also spoke at the press conference, thanking both the Provincial Council of Cádiz and the Federation of Peñas for their support they lend to the artists of the province.

Flamenco Day in the province of Cádiz will be celebrated on September 22 and 23 and will feature a total of 15 recitals that will take place in 12 different locations. The program is as follows:
