Award-winning Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa is set to perform two concerts in the United States in September 2023. Widely celebrated as one of the preeminent guitar virtuosos on the global stage, this maestro of the seven-string guitar has consistently captivated audiences worldwide with his remarkable skill.
Yamandu’s is one of the artists that has rekindled Brazilian guitar music. His extensive repertoire interweaves chorinho, bossa nova, milonga, tango, samba and chamamé. He has collaborated with luminaries such as Bobby McFerrin, Richard Galliano, Doug de Vries, Gilberto Gil, Toquinho, João Bosco, Ney Matogrosso, Marisa Monte, Renato Borghetti, and other distinguished artists.
Recently, Yamandu Costa unveiled De Vida y Vuelta, an album crafted together with Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, known as Domingo El Colorao, a venerable traditional musician hailing from the Canary Islands, Spain. Together, they combine their respective instruments—the seven-string guitar and the timple (a small five-string guitar).
