Anna Setton – O Futuro é Mais Bonito (Galileo MC LC-12661, 2023)
Talented Brazilian singer Anna Setton presents her superb third album O Futuro é Mais Bonito (The Future is More Beautiful), recorded in Recife. For this occasion, Anna worked with some of the finest artists from Recife in northeastern Brazil. This new generation includes producers and composers Barro and Guilherme de Assis; musicians Ed Sataudinger, Juliano Holanda, Igor de Carvalho, Rodrigo Campello and other recognized and established musicians such as Edu Sanginardi and João Camarero.
O Futuro é Mais Bonito contains alluring modern Brazilian music grounded in irresistible traditional rhythms and melodies. Anna says: “It is a very modern record. The boys I worked with translate in a very current way the tradition I learned from, that of the great Brazilian song”.
Anna Setton is a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist from São Paulo who has performed emotive and charming Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) for several years. She developed her beautiful vocal style by singing in the clubs of São Paulo. In addition, she travelled the world as guest singer of Brazilian music icon Toquinho, and collaborated with Cuba’s Omara Portuondo, Sadao Watanabe, and Mestrinho.
Her debut album, Anna Setton, was released in 2018, highlighting her talent. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she played guitar and did weekly live online shows where she gave voice to the great treasures of Brazilian popular song. This practice led her to produce Onde Mora meu Coração, an album that included the moving “Morena Bonita” by Toninho Horta.
