Rhiannon Giddens will release her new album, You’re the One, on August 18 via Nonesuch Records. The album includes the single “Yet to Be,” featuring Jason Isbell, which tells the story of a Black woman and an Irish man falling in love in America. Giddens admired Isbell’s support for black women in the industry and collaborated with him for the song.
You’re the One comprises twelve songs written throughout Giddens’ career, showcasing a blend of folk music and its pop influences. The album was recorded with a diverse ensemble of musicians, including Francesco Turrisi, Dirk Powell, Jason Sypher, and Niwel Tsumbu, featuring various instruments such as bass, accordions, guitars, and horns, reflecting the inclusive spirit in her work.
Giddens’ previous album, They’re Calling Me Home, earned her a Grammy for Best Folk Album in 2022. In recent years, she has been involved in various artistic projects, performances, and collaborations, making her a prominent figure in the music industry.
