Beatriz Rosário, Fadista from Coimbra

Portuguese vocalist Beatriz Rosário grew up immersed in her grandfather’s music collection, which served as her introduction to the world of fado. Inspired by her grandmother Rosário’s encouragement, she embraced her artistic talents and adopted the name Beatriz Rosário as a tribute to her matriarch.

At the age of 17, she compiled the songs that had the greatest impact on her early life and released an album, embarking on a musical journey that saw her perform at renowned fado venues such as Festival Caixa Alfama and Festival F. When she sings, Beatriz Rosário delivers each word with profound emotion; infused with her own personal touch.

Originally from Coimbra, Beatriz Rosário relocated to Lisbon at 21 to pursue her education at Universidade Nova, where she aspired to discover her unique musical identity. Throughout this transformative process, she had the privilege of collaborating with notable Portuguese artists like AGIR, D.A.M.A, and Ivo Lucas, who provided guidance on her fado journey.

Her EP Rosário (Sony Music Entertainment Portugal, 2022) represents Beatriz’s quest to mix the traditional elements of Portuguese music with fresh sounds and rhythms. The music critics have warmly embraced her latest work, recognizing her talent and originality. Her debut single, “Ficamos por Aqui,” held the top position on RFM radio for seven weeks, while the lead single from her EP release, “O que é fez de ti,” has already amassed tens of thousands of views on YouTube in just six days.
