Emilio Moret, a Leading Figure in Cuban music

Emilio Moret, a prominent figure in Cuban music, was born on November 25, 1948, in Encrucijada, Villa Clara. His musical journey began at the Ignacio Cervantes Conservatory of Music in Havana.

Demonstrating profound talent and artistry, Moret has crafted a remarkable repertoire comprising over 80 songs. These compositions have been performed by Cuba’s most celebrated artists and ensembles, including Niño Rivera, Conjunto Chapotin, Estrellas de Chocolate, Tanda de Guaracheros, Orquesta Cuba, Septeto Típico de Sones, Septeto Habanero, and Septeto Nacional, among an array of others.

Over the course of two decades, Emilio Moret’s affiliation with Septeto Habanero has contributed to the son cubano’s exceptional recognition across diverse continents. Possessing a velvety voice that emanates a distinctive timbre, Moret encapsulates the genuineness and essence of the son cubano genre, thereby securing his position as one of its preeminent musicians.

In his debut album, titled “Por la felicidad” (Lusafrica, 2023), Emilio Moret presents the profound essence of a sonero, skillfully navigating through the multifaceted rhythms that embody the very fabric of Cuban musical identity.
