Entoto Band – Entoto Band (Guitar Globetrotter Recordings, 2023)
Entoto Band is a crossover band deeply inspired by the irresistible Ethiopian dance music from the golden era of Ethiojazz. Entoto Band recreates classic songs from Ethiopia and Eritrea and write their own songs in the same vein. The group includes the soulful vocals of ‘Queen’ Helen Mengestu and fiery saxophone of Amanyal ‘Million’ Tewelde along with a high energy band led by guitarist Joep Pelt.
Last year, Entoto Band built its live reputation with a series of performances at festivals and concert rooms. This year, Entoto Band’s self-titled debut album has arrived (released on Guitar Globetrotter Recordings), followed by a club and festival tour.
