Ensemble Sangineto Celebrates Italian Traditional Music

Ensemble Sangineto – Grand Tour Vol. 1 (2022)

Grand Tour Vol. 1 marks the first installment of a two-part project by Ensemble Sangineto, paying tribute to traditional Italian music with fresh renditions of a folk tune from each of the 20 regions of Italy.

This project gave rise to the concert “Le Grand Tour – Songs and Enchantments from the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea,” a captivating performance that takes the audience on a stunning musical journey through all the regions of Italy, reinterpreting their varied musical traditions.

Ensemble Sangineto aims to combine Italian folk melodies with a modern international flair, in pursuit of the continuity and innovation of Italian folk music, drawing from the traditions of other European countries and regions, particularly Irish, French, Breton, and Scottish music.

Ensemble Sangineto’s music is characterized by charming melodies, original and awe-inspiring arrangements, the delicate polyphonic texture of the three voices, and lively, dynamic rhythms. The group employs innovative and unpredictable techniques in utilizing the potential of the harp, bowed psaltery, and bouzouki.

Musicians: Adriano Sangineto (Celtic harp, vocals); Caterina Sangineto (bowed psaltery, flutes, vocals, bodhran); and Jacopo Ventura (guitar, bouzouki, vocals).
