Lettuce and Steel Pulse Announce Joint Tour

Lettuce, a six-piece psychedelic funk outfit, and Steel Pulse, an acclaimed roots reggae band, are teaming up for a three-week-long co-headlining summer tour, set to delight audiences with 13 unforgettable shows from June 15th through July 8th. The tour will take them from Miami, FL to Atlantic City, NJ, with stops in Ohio along the way. Each band will deliver full sets at every show, with professional big wave surfer-turned-musician Makua Rothman providing support.

In keeping with summer, the majority of the performances will take place at some of the region’s top outdoor venues and amphitheaters. The tour kicks off with four shows in Florida, where both bands will make return appearances at the Miami Beach Bandshell before heading north to St. Petersburg, Apopka, and Ormond Beach. They will continue up the East Coast, with stops in Outer Banks, NC, Richmond, VA, and Hyannis, MA, before wrapping up the regional run at Salvage Station in Asheville, NC. The tour concludes in Ohio with two dates at PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati and Rose Music Center at the Heights in Huber Heights.

Both Lettuce and Steel Pulse are coming off remarkable years and active spring schedules leading up to the summer tour. Lettuce released their eighth studio album, Unify, in 2022, which received the endorsement of legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins, who guests on vocals and bass on the anthemic lead single “Keep the Funk Alive.” The band has been actively touring in support of the album and has made appearances at various festivals, including Jam Cruise, Backwoods Music Festival, and a 3-night residency at the celebrated Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC.

Formed in 1975, Steel Pulse has amassed nine GRAMMY nominations and one win throughout their storied career. Their latest studio offering, Mass Manipulation, earned them a nomination and reflects on four decades committed to bettering mankind through music. The band will be performing at various club dates and festivals before joining forces with Lettuce for the summer tour.

Despite the apparent sonic differences between the two bands, both are excited about the co-billed tour and view it as an opportunity to introduce their music to each other’s fan base every night, instilling a sense of curiosity and enlightenment. David Hinds, lead singer and guitarist of Steel Pulse, draws parallels to the band’s 1981 tour with Average White Band. He views it as an experience of going into the unknown and tapping into different forms of arrangements, which made them more knowledgeable musicians.

Adam Deitch, drummer of Lettuce, performed with Average White Band for three years after studying at Berklee School of Music, which brings an even more full circle nature to the tour. Deitch is honored to be sharing the stage with a legendary band like Steel Pulse and is looking forward to such a spiritual experience.
