To understand the uniqueness and idiosyncrasy of Spanish duo Salazar, one only has to see the distance that separates its two members: the 1,000 kilometers between Salamanca in western Spain and San Feliu de Guíxols in eastern Spain. This distance is an obstacle to the chemistry of such an unusual union.
The voice of Bego Salazar, dramatic and full of moaning, twists the bowels of ancient flamenco. Xavi Lloses’s neo-romantic and minimalist piano builds highly sophisticated, hypnotic landscapes, with an unexpected spectrum between electric avant-garde and sound art.
Bego Salazar, originally from Salamanca, carries flamenco flavor and art in her veins. The daughter of a gypsy father who shared the stage with Jorge Pardo, Juan Antonio Salazar, Jerónimo Maya, Dani Macaco, Juanito Makandé and later became one of the vocalists of Las Migas, she began her solo career together with Xavi Lloses creating the Salazar project.
Lloses declares himself an anti-pianist, composer and sound terrorist. An eclectic and versatile multidimensional artist, he develops his hyperactivity in all the ways that art provides him. Immersed in various projects, he has worked with and produced works by artists such as Lluís Danés, Marina Rossell, Gerard Quintana, Jaume Sisa and Nico Roig.
