“Doghouse” (Asphalt Tango Records) is the new album by Bulgarian act Kottarashky & The Rain Dogs. The CD is the project of sound collector and interior designer Nikola Gruev from Sofia, Bulgaria.
Nikola Gruev experimented by mixing his own field recordings with electronic dance beats and rapidly put together his first album. After that, the band The Rain Dogs was formed.
The album features vocals by New Zealander Tui Mamaki, Asya Andonova, as well as trumpeter and accordionist Sando Sandov. Many of the lyrics are traditional, although two songs were improvised in the studio.
On “Doghouse” you’ll find a mix of blues, jazz, trip hop, breakbeat, dub and more.
Lineup: Kottarashky (Nikola Gruev) and The Rain Dogs: Aleksandar Dobrev on clarinet; Hristo Hadzhiganchev on guitar, synthesizer; Yordan Geshakov on bass; and Atanas Popov on drums.
