Green Fields of America and Calan are set to perform in New York City on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Peter Norton Symphony Space.
For over 40 years, Green Fields of America has been performing traditional Irish music and dance around the world. Founded by acclaimed musician and folklorist Mick Moloney (who recently passed away), this supergroup has included many Celtic music luminaries such as the late Dennis Cahill, Seamus Egan, Eileen Ivers, Joanie Madden, and dancer Michael Flatley, among others.
The current lineup of Green Fields of America will be joined by Calan, who have emerged over the last decade as the most accomplished and exciting group of young artists from Wales. Calan is described as an “un-traditionally traditional” Welsh band. Calan’s discography includes Bling (2008), Jonah (2011), Dinas (2015), Solomon (2017), and Kistvaen (2020).
This concert is part of the World Music Institute’s Origins Series. Presented in partnership with Irish Arts Center.
