TrikiTrí

Artist Profiles: TrikiTrí

TrikiTrí was formed in early 2020 by four musicians from Fene (A Coruña, Spain) with an extensive background in traditional music groups and other genres in the region of Ferrol such as iriños de Fene, Silvardeira, Eiravedra, Encrucijada, Hinojo, Los Cempés, Pettitswing and Mr. Marmita.

The style and repertoire of Trikitrí is influenced by the sound of the trikitixa (the Basque diatonic accordion) along with electronic bagpipe, cajón and acoustic guitar. With this unconventional format, the band plays traditional Basque and Galician Celtic music tunes as well as original material with a Galician flavor.

Although rehearsals were intermittent during the COVID-19 pandemic and the first concerts were cancelled, the group is touring once more.

Band members include Óscar Alfonso on trikitixa (accordion); Alberto Maceiras on electronic bagpipe; Óscar Painceiras on acoustic guitar; and Alberto Romero on cajón and additional percussion.

TrikiTrí was one of the winners of the Runas 2022 traditional music contest.
