Heart of the Dragon Ensemble – The Art of the Chinese Xiao and Hulusi (Naxos World, 2022)
The Heart of the Dragon Ensemble and Chinese composer Jiang Li have put together an delightful combination of East Asian and Western music. It presents traditional Chinese music and literature through the versatile xiao and the hulusi.
Although the focus is on the xiao and hulusi, Heart of the Dragon Ensemble also uses Chinese guzheng, pipa, erhu, and more, along with western drum kit, bass, guitar, piano and strings.
