World Music Venue Barbès Celebrates 20th Anniversary in May 2022

Popular Brooklyn (New York) music venue Barbès will celebrate its 20th anniversary in May with a series of special shows. The influential world music and jazz venue will feature old friends and favorites including Las Rubias del Norte, Miramar, One Ring Zero, Frank London‘s Klezmer Brass All Stars, Andy Statman Trio, Pedro Giraudo Tango Quintet, Slavic Soul Party, Stephane Wrembel, and more.

Barbès owner Olivier Conan says: “We never thought we would, but here you go: our little Brooklyn club is turning twenty – possibly the equivalent of 100 years in New York City club years. We are shocked to have survived despite a two-year pandemic, a Park Slope location where prohibitive rents are keeping artists and musicians away, a business model based on unpopular taste, and myriad associated dangers that should have killed us long ago. We will be celebrating all month at Barbès, as well as at (le) Poisson Rouge on May 15th.”
