Manuel de Angustias

Artist Profiles: Manuel de Angustias

Flamenco singer Manuel de Angustias was born on February 13, 1969 in Utrera, Spain. He grew up in a well-known family of Flamenco singers from Utrera, Los Jiménez that included his grandfather Manuel de Angustias (from whom the grandson Manuel took his artistic name) as well as his uncle Bambino, a groundbreaking artist that broke conventions.

Manuel de Angustias is deeply influenced by his uncle, from whom he inherited his style of singing rumbas and bulería songs, in the purest Bambino style, adapting it to his way of understanding flamenco.

Manuel began singing at the age of 15 in the group Calle Nueva, touring town fairs and performing at private parties throughout Spain for 11 years. After participating in the album “Utrera Joven”, Manuel was encouraged to  start a solo career with the Mercurio record company. Since then he has participated in various national and international flamenco festivals of great importance.

His singles “Borrachera de melancolía” “Cobarde” and “Vagabundo de amor” received extensive radio airplay in Spain.

In April 2022, Manuel de Agustias released the song “Yo no soy”.
