Flamenco guitarist and composer José Campaña was born in Alicante, in eastern Spain, in 1976. His family has Andalusian roots, specifically from Seville and Cádiz.
He made his professional debut at the age of 11 under the guidance of maestro Juan Fernández ‘Morenito de Hellín’. He started to participate in various festivals and contests throughout Spain, becoming a highly regarded flamenco guitarist.
In 1995, Campaña toured Egypt with a full line-up that included groundbreaking percussionist Rubem Dantas.
He records a song for the soundtrack of the film ‘Best Seller’ by Carlos Pérez Ferrer.
In 1998, he released ‘Corazón flamenco’, a debut album featuring prestigious musicians such as Pedro Barceló, Jesús Lavilla, Juan Carlos Aracil and Pablo Mercader.
In 2001, he released ‘Lo Que Sentio’, his second album with the collaboration of artists such as Fabio Miano, Juan Munguía, Diapasón, Pierre León, Pedro Barceló, and José Ramón Velasco.
A year later, he was included in the program of Antonio Canales’s ‘Toito el flamenco’ Festival, sharing the bill with Vicente Amigo, Juan de Juan, Mayte Martin, Belén Maya and El Bicho.
In March 2022, Campaña announced the release of a new album titled “Mar de la vergüenza” (sea of shame).
