Beverly “Guitar” Watkins – In Paris (Music Maker Foundation, 2022)

The Music Maker Foundation released In Paris, a live album by the late Beverly “Guitar” Watkins  in March 18. The album was recorded in 2012.

In Paris features a superb set of mostly original electric songs penned by Beverly “Guitar” Watkins. Her formidable band in 2012 included seasoned bluesmen, including Albert White (Elvin Bishop, Clarence Carter, Ray Charles) on rhythm guitar; Eddie Tigner (The Ink Spots) on organ and piano; and trombonist Lil Joe Burton (Bobby Womack, Otis Clay, B.B. King).

Beverly “Guitar” Watkins passed away in 2019. The Atlanta musician was known for her fiery electric blues, powerful vocals and spectacular use of the electric guitar, placing her guitar on her back and playing it behind her head.
