Afro Roots Fest has revealed the lineups for the first two events of 2022. First up, the Gainesville debut will take place on Friday, April 8 at the Bo Diddley Plaza featuring Jomion and the Uklos from Benin, West Africa, the UF Afro Pop Ensemble, and the UF Pazeni Sauti Africa Choir. Show begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to all ages.
The following night, Saturday, April 9, Weedie Braimah & Hands of Time (Ghana), Cortadito (Cuba), and Maca Reggae Samba (Brazil) will appear at the Heartwood Soundstage. Pre-show tickets are available online on this page. All ages are welcome.
Afro Roots Fest Jupiter
Afro Roots Fest Jupiter will to take place Saturday, April 16, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Guanabanas Island Restaurant & Bar. Slated to appear are Philip Montalban (Nicaragua), Panafrik (Guinea), BadApples Brass Band (United States), and DJ Ephniko (Colombia). This show is free and all ages; 21 and over welcome after 9:00 p.m.
